One job in thirty cities is one job

Some companies post one opening once per city. Same title, same description, thirty separate listings — one for Bogotá, one for São Paulo, one for Querétaro, and so on. To their applicant tracking system those are thirty vacancies. To anyone reading them they are obviously one.

We already collapse those into a single card, with the cities listed on it. What we got wrong was the timing: the collapse ran on a schedule every few hours, while new jobs reach search within minutes of being crawled. In the gap between the two, every copy was its own vacancy.

That gap is how a saved-search alert went out this morning listing the same job thirty times. If you got that email, the alert was working correctly and the catalogue underneath it was not. Sorry about the noise.

Reposts are now recognised as they are written, so a per-city fan-out collapses before it can reach your saved searches, the job list, or a company’s opening count. The scheduled pass still runs behind it and still catches the cases the fast path deliberately skips.
