Find this application's mail

Connected mail has only ever worked one way. A message arrives, we work out which application it belongs to, and either attach it or leave it as a suggestion for you to confirm. When that guess came up empty, the message sat in the inbox and the application sat there looking untouched — and there was nothing you could press to say this one has mail, go and find it.

Open an application, go to Emails, and there is now a button that does exactly that. It looks through the mail around the date you applied that isn’t attached to anything yet, works out which of it belongs here, and shows you what it found:

2 of 3 messages may belong here. Nothing is attached until you say so.

Ashby Thanks for applying to Derq 4 weeks ago [Link] Not this one
Maria Alvarez Next step — a 45 minute call 3 weeks ago [Link] Not this one
                   Carries a calendar invitation

Nothing is attached until you press Link. That is deliberate rather than cautious: attaching a message to the wrong employer quietly rewrites that company’s reply history, and it is the sort of mistake nobody notices for months. A suggestion you dismiss costs one click.

One side effect worth knowing. Interviews only appear on your calendar view when the invitation that announced them is attached to an application — so an invitation that never got attached meant a meeting we simply couldn’t show you. Link one here and it turns up on the calendar at the next sync.
